Call for Special Sessions

IUPESM World Congress has an excellent track record over the years for organizing Special Sessions in new or emerging areas in biomedical engineering and medical physics. For the World Congress 2018 we are seeking innovative, high-quality and potentially interdisciplinary proposals for Special Sessions that complement the regular program of the congress. Special Sessions should be focused and provide both an overview of the state-of-the-art, as well as highlight the most promising research directions, trends and challenges in the proposed field.

with the subject: WC2018 Special Session Proposal.

After Special Session proposals are approved, abstracts of talks included in the special session must be submitted. The abstracts should conform to the formatting and electronic submission guidelines of regular IUPESM 2018 abstracts. Submissions of the abstracts will be done through the Congress submission system following the instructions on the congress web site. Abstracts will undergo the same review process as regular abstracts.

All authors of submitted abstracts are encouraged to submit full papers in addition to their abstracts. Submitting full papers is not mandatory but is highly recommended. Papers of talks included in the special session will undergo the same review process as regular papers.

Proposals will be evaluated based on topic novelty and associated impact, organizers´ qualifications, as well as the proposed list of contributed papers.

Abstracts of talks included in Special Session submissions at IUPESM WC 2018 are reviewed via the same exact process as submissions to the regular program, and abstracts are expected to meet the same quality standards.

For Special Sessions that are somewhat undersubscribed (due to paper rejections or limited number of submissions), an effort will be made to identify regular submission papers to complete the session, as deemed appropriate by the congress organizers. If a Special Session is seriously undersubscribed the Special Session may be canceled, in which case the accepted papers from the canceled Special Session will be placed into the regular program.

• Special Sessions proposals due: December 15, 2017 (the proposals submitted before the deadline will be evaluated continuously and organizers will be notified accordingly)
• Notification of acceptance of Special Sessions: December 20, 2017

• Submission of abstracts of talks included in Special Sessions: December 31, 2017
• Submission of papers of talks included in Special Sessions: January 31, 2018
