Prof Leo Hwa Liang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received his B.Eng. degree from Leeds University (1996), M.Eng. from Nanyang Technological University (2000),and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology (2001, 2005). Assoc Prof Leo’s research interests lies at the intersection of fluid dynamics and medicine, specifically on cardiovascular engineering and biofluids. He is actively involved in the development of various novel medical devices, such as drug screening perfusion platform, artificial liver assist devices, mitral percutaneous heart valves, carotid stents, and left ventricle assist devices. Since 2009, Dr Leo’s lab has generated over 300 peer-reviewed journal papers including 142 journal articles, 162 conference proceedings and book chapters. He is the Treasurer of the Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore). He is the Co-chair of the Scientific Committee of the 15th World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering 2022, Singapore.
