Faculty	Dr Rex Tan, CTO & Co-Founder of Aevice Health, Singapore Rex Tan is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Aevice Health, where he oversees the product development effort and sets technological directions for the company alongside the company’s technical and clinical advisors. Outside of Aevice Health, Rex is part of the Health Informatics Technical Committee, Singapore Standards Council, an adjunct content expert at LKC School of Medicine for digital health & health informatics and served as an advisor to other start-ups in the deep tech space. Rex was conferred a Doctor of Philosophy in Optoelectronics by University of Southampton and later conferred a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronic Engineering jointly by Nanyang Technological University and University of Southampton. About the Company Aevice Health Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based MedTech spin-off from Nanyang Technological University at the forefront of addressing chronic respiratory disease, one of the generation’s biggest healthcare challenges. The company’s non-invasive wearable devices enable the early detection of cardiopulmonary abnormalities remotely and in real-time, so that patients can receive fast and targeted care from the ease of their homes. Clinicians can also gain insights into their patients’ health and track their responses to treatment plans easily from the Aevice analytical platform. More information about the company can be found at https://aevice.com/ Mr Shaun Rossiter, CEO & Founder of AiHealth.SG Originally from Australia, Rossiter has spent most of his adult life living and working in the Asia Pacific region. Before founding AiHealth.SG (RunKicker), Rossiter worked with US-based startups looking to enter the APAC market. Experienced Startup Professional with a proven track record in establishing and growing zero traction companies to local market dominance in Asia Pacific. About the Company AiHealth.SG is an AI-driven digital health company that is passionate about helping people live healthier and longer lives by raising awareness of their risk of developing a NCD (noncommunicable disease, specifically cardiovascular diseases, Hypertension, Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease). We provide AI-driven risk assessment and management at the Population Health level with personalised interventions that help people take the appropriate actions to reduce or manage their NCD risk, or manage their existing condition – all from the Mobile (without the need for 3rd party devices). Dr Ariffin Kawaja, CEO & Co-Founder of StretchSkin Technologies and Research Fellow, NTU, Singapore Dr Ariffin’s startup, StretchSkin, provides a Smart Physical Rehabilitation Solution by incorporating wearables using soft sensors and a gaming platform known as the Virtual Exercise Therapy System (VETS). He is also a research fellow with NTU working with seniors on VR use. Previously, he was with the Centre of Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance (CAIDG), Singapore Management University (SMU). He received his doctoral degree from Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His thesis was on fear-based health messages for Malay diabetes patients in Singapore. Outside of the startup ecosystem and academia, Dr Ariffin works closely with Chinese clan associations and churches on harmony-related projects as the vice-chairman of Khalid Mosque, a 105-year-old mosque within the Geylang Serai vicinity. In addition, he is an executive member of MCS, a non-profit group that provides aftercare case management services to assist former substance offenders. He is also a member of the Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC). About the Company StretchSkin Technologies is a deep-tech start-up developing next-generation soft sensors using flexible & stretchable electronics for physical rehabilitation, active gaming, VR/AR, healthcare, smart clothing, and Industry4.0. We combine an innovative approach using soft electronic materials, signal acquisition, and data analytics to enable a seamless integration of electronic functionality into ultrathin patches and smart clothing. Our long-term vision and ambition are to set the standard of soft sensors wearable technology. Dr Yen Ngoc Nguyen, Mabel – CEO & Co-Founder of EloCare, Singapore With a PhD in biomedical engineering from NUS, Mabel focuses on providing solutions to support the aging and chronic care sector. Her startup team EloCare is developing smart and connected healthcare devices ranging from medication compliance solutions for the elderly to solutions to help midlife women manage their menopausal health more effectively. Passionate about bringing technological innovations to healthcare, Mabel advocates for women’s health as well as improved healthcare for underserved population. She is recently selected to be on the SG 100 Women in Tech List 2021. About the Company EloCare is a Singapore-based startup founded by a team with strong medical research, engineering and entrepreneurial background. We utilise the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and AI technologies to provide a range of healthcare solutions that aim to help people age gracefully and live longer. EloCare has won several international and local awards and the team is now partnering with the leading healthcare providers in Singapore to pilot their solutions.
Synopsis	The digital transformation of healthcare is marked by the decentralisation of care and patient empowerment of their own health data. Digital health technologies have the potential to reduce healthcare costs and improve the access to care. This shift in paradigm has also given rise to opportunities for health technology startups, as we see global health tech investments exceeded a record $50 billion USD in 2021.
Objectives	This lunch symposium features 4 Singapore-based deep tech startups in their journey to transform healthcare through wearables, remote monitoring and AI.
