Service

Dr. David is a principal at Biomedical Engineering Consultants, LLC. He holds an adjunct academic appointment at the University of Texas - School of Public Health. In addition, he is also Honorary Director of Clinical Engineering at Capital Medical University in China. Dr. David has served as chairman and member of FDA advisory panels. He is a recipient of the FDA commissioner’s special citation for protection of the public, the 2008 ACCE/AAMI Humanitarian Engineering award, the 2011 Lifetime achievement award, the Italian and Chinese clinical engineering associations’ awards, and was elected in 2018 into the Hall of Fame of the American College of Clinical Engineering. He was also inducted into the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni of Engineering and Computer Science and into the WVU Academy of Chemical Engineering. Has served as technical adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO), as founder and 1st president of the Center for Telemedicine and e-Health Law (CTeL) in Washington, D.C., and as Editor-in-Chief of Global Clinical Engineering Journal (www.GlobalCE.org), and Interim President, Global Clinical Engineering Alliance (www.GlobalCEA.org). Dr. David helped found the International Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Management Congress, the Global CE Day, and serves as chairman of the Global CE Summits. He served as the founder & first president of the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE), and of the nonprofit Healthcare Technology Foundation (www.thehtf.org).

Achievement

For his contribution as Co-Chair, IUPESM Health Technology Task Group (2015-2018) to assist countries in defining their health technology needs.
